nCube : Educational Level Total

nCubes hold all the statistics presented by the Vision of Britain system, and are defined as combinations of variables. For example, the age-sex tables that appear in most census reports are held as two-dimensional nCubes in which one dimension is a variable categorising sex and the other variable defines a set of age groups. nCubes can have many dimensions, such as age by sex by occupation by cause of death, or just one.

Text:
Total number of persons included in data on educational levels, where broken down by gender. This is true of the Scottish education data for 1951 and the England and Wales data for 1961. The latter cover all persons aged 25 and over within the 10% sample of households, excluding those not supplying information. This separate nCube is necessary as the main 'N_EDUC_LEVEL_TOT' nCube provides for only an overall total, not for totals for each sex.
