Boroughbridge.-- township and market town, Aidborough par., E. div. West-Riding Yorkshire, on river Ure, 21½ miles NW. of York by rail, 95 ac., pop. 966; P.O., T.O., 2 Banks. Market-day, Saturday. B. was the scene of the defeat of the Earl of Lancaster by Edward II. in 1321. B. Hall is in the vicinity.
