Burghead, quoad sacra par. and seaport, Duffus par., N. Elginshire, 10¾ miles NW. of Elgin by rail -- q.s. par., pop. 2076; town, pop. 1428; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank. It is a herring-fishing sta., and has also a salmon hery. Many Roman remains are in vicinity. The prom. of Burghead has an alt. of 80 ft.
