Cliffe at Hoo, par. and vil. (ry. sta. Cliffe), mid. Kent, 5 miles E. of Gravesend, 5696 ac. (74 water) and 2065 tidal water and foreshore, pop. 2245; P.O., T.O. The vil., which is 1 mile N. of sta., overlooks the marshes from a ridge of chalk. Cliffe at Hoo is supposed to be "Clovishoe," where the Saxon Church held its councils.
