Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Kilburn

Kilburn.-- dist. and ry. sta., partly in Chelsea, Paddington, and St Marylebone pars., but chiefly in Hampstead and Willesden pars., Middlesex, pop. 33,494; the sta. is 3 miles NW. of Euston Station. Kilburn was formerly a hamlet of Hampstead par.; Goldsmith's Cottage here, in which he wrote the Vicar of Wakefield and the Deserted Village, was pulled down in 1837.
