Loanhead.-- town with ry. sta., Lasswade par., Edinburghshire, near the North Esk, 5 miles SE. of Edinburgh by road and 10 by rail, pop. 2493; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank; is a summer resort; the inhabitants find employment in the mines and paper mills in the neighbourhood; Loanhead was made a police burgh in 1884.
