Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Teynham

Teynham.-- par. and vil. with ry. sta., Kent, near a creek of the Swale, 3½ miles NW. of Faversham, 2474 ac. and 390 tidal water and foreshore, pop. 1790; the archbishops of Canterbury had a magnificent manor-house here; the dist. is famous for its orchards and cherry gardens; Teynham gives the title of baron to the family of Curzon.
