Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Brampton Bryan

Brampton Bryan, township and vil., N. Herefordshire, on river Teme, 10 miles SW. of Ludlow, 2926 ac., pop. 275; P.O. The church contains the monument of Edward Harley, Earl of Oxford (d. 1741), collector of the Harleian Library. There are extensive remains of the castle, which was twice besieged and finally reduced to ruins during the civil war.
