Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for COCK (The)

COCK (The), a stream of W. R. Yorkshire. It rises above Aberford; and runs 10 miles north-eastward to the Wharfe, below Tadcaster. It was deeply ensanguined by the battle of Towton in 1461.
