ASHBY-FOLVILLE, a township and a parish in Melton-Mowbray district, Leicester. The township lies on an affluent of the river Wreak, 5 miles ESE of Bearsby r. station, and 6 SW of Melton-Mowbray. Pop., 450. Houses, 106. The property is divided among a few. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Peterborough. Value, £190. Patron, the Rev. W. Acworth. The church is decorated English of the 14th century; has fine square-headed windows; and needs repair. Almshouses and other charities were founded by Lord Carrington, and have an income of £139. The Franciscan friar, William Folville, who figured in the controversy "De pueris induendis," was a native.
