SALISBURY and YEOVIL railway, a railway in Wilts, Dorset, and Somerset; from a junction with the Southwestern at Salisbury, 40 miles westward, to ajunction with the Great Western and the Bristol and Exeter at Yeovil; together with a branch of 3 furlongsinto junction with the Wilts, Somerset, and Weymouth. It was authorized in 1854; underwent modifications, under acts of 1857, 1858, 1860, 1864, and 1866; was opened to Gillingham in 1859, and to Yeovil in 1860; and had, in 1867, a capital of £766, 518.
