  1. These data are all taken from Table 52, "Social class of households (10% Sample): Households with residents; residents in households", in the Small Area Statistics release from the 1981 Census of Population, and were downloaded from the CASWEB system on 1st March 2017.

Notes:

  1. This is a complex table with unclear documentation on CASWEB. It includes counts of households, and also counts of persons classified by the occupation of the head of household, but our intention here is to include only counts of individual persons, classified by their own occupations.
  2. What is entirely clear is that all counts included here are for persons aged over 16, and they are from the 10 per cent sample so should be multiplied by 10 to obtain population estimates.
