The township lies on the river Don, and on the Doncaster and Thorne railway, 5 miles NE by N of Doncaster; and it has a station, of the name of Barnby-Dun, on the railway. Acres, 2,230. Real property, £4,259. ...
Pop., 537. Houses, 118. The parish includes also the township of Thorpe-in-Balne; and its Post Town is Doncaster. Acres, 3,737. Real property, £5,698. Pop., 644. Houses, 141. The living is a vicarage in the dio. of York. Value, £115. Patron, J. H. Newsome, Esq. The church was recently restored. There are two Methodist chapels, an endowed school, and charities £59.
