In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Drumelzier like this:
Drumelzier, par. and vil., in co. and 9½ miles SW. of Peebles, on Powsail Burn, ½ mile above its influx to the Tweed -- par., 17,948 ac., pop. 208; 1 mile SW. of church, on the Tweed, are the remains of D. Castle (16th century); D. Burn, flowing 2½ miles NW., unites with Scrape Burn to form the Powsail.
Drumelzier is now part of SCOTTISH BORDERS Council. Click here for graphs and data of how SCOTTISH BORDERS has changed over two centuries. For statistics about Drumelzier itself, go to Statistics.
