In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Finstall like this:

Finstall, eccl. dist. and vil., Stoke Prior par., E. Worcester--dist., pop. 990; vil., 2 m. SE. of Bromsgrove; P.O., called Finstal; in vicinity is Finstall House.
