Descriptive gazetteer entries

In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Hyde Park like this:

Hyde Park, Westminster, London; with Kensington Gardens - which are simply a continuation of Hyde Park - it is nearly 1½ mile long and ¾ mile broad; it is traversed in all directions by pleasant walks and carriage drives, and contains the Rotten Row, the Serpentine, and the Albert Memorial.

This is the only descriptive gazetter entry we have found, but you may be able to find further references to Hyde Park by doing a full-text search here.
