Maybury  Surrey

In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Maybury like this:

MAYBURY, a place near Woking in Surrey. A retreat for impoverished actors, was erected here in 1862; bears the name of the Royal Dramatic College; comprises, as originally erected, twenty-one sets of residences; includes a central hall, built in 1866, at a cost of £2,500; was designed, at the erection of the hall, to be enlarged by the addition of wings; and, in a general view, is in the collegiate style of two stories, with the lower story in the form of an arcade, and with a tower and spire at the central hall.
